When we move into verse 4, John introduces himself and tells us the people to whom he is writing; when he has done that, he then offers to them and to us an unbelievable greeting. ‘John, to the seven churches in the province of Asia.’ We have no problem identifying these seven churches as they are explicitly detailed for us in verse 11. They are then singled out for further special attention in chapters 2 and 3. It is interesting to note that the apostle Paul sent a number of different letters
